Equine Innovative Medicine offers many treatment modalities that range from traditional western medicine to regenerative medicine. Our goal is to provide each patient with the most individualized treatment plan possible, so that we can achieve your performance goals.
Therapeutic Modalities
Pharmaceuticals
Oral anti-inflammatories may be used to decrease inflammation and to increase comfort level of the horse. They may be given for a short period of time or on a more permanent basis depending on the severity of the horse’s discomfort.
We also stock a wide variety of medications and supplements to meet your horse’s exact needs.
Joint Injections
Therapeutic Joint injections are used to decreased inflammation and pain within the joint and increase viscosity of the joint fluid.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
PRP is a process of collecting the horse’s blood and concreting the platelets within the plasma and activating them which will release protein growth factors which will stimulate the natural pathways of healing within the area injected.
PRP is very effective in decreasing inflammation and promoting healing and has proven to be incredibly successful in the treatment of joint injuries and osteoarthritis.
PRP is used to treat many soft tissue injuries such as tears to the deep digital flexor tendon and the superficial digital flexor tendon, along with suspensory ligament injuries.
Systemic Joint Therapies
Systemic joint therapies such as Adequan and Legend are unique products that all work differently to help increase joint health and decrease joint pain/inflammation.
Alternative Therapies
Many horses benefit from therapies outside of standard medicine.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a minimally invasive procedure and is very effective at eliminating pain and discomfort.
Chiropractic
Chiropractic manipulation may be helpful in managing some lameness and works synergistically with acupuncture.
Rehabilitation
Biomechanics Consultation
Biomechanics consultation assesses a horse’s movement to pinpoint performance issues or discomfort. It’s crucial for tailoring rehabilitation to improve well-being and performance.
Cold Laser Therapy
Cold laser therapy uses light to stimulate healing, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. It’s effective for soft tissue injuries and joint conditions in horses.
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy employs sound waves to promote tissue healing, which is ideal for tendon and joint issues. It enhances recovery by improving blood flow and reducing pain.
